Guide: Connect Amazon Echo to A Phone: Tips and Tutorial
Of all the things that have replaced smartphones, speakers remain untouched by it. Even if one phone has dual speakers, it will never come close to a full-fledged standalone speaker.
Method 1: Using Alexa App
After setting correctly up Echo, follow these steps to connect it to your phone Step 1: Move with you phone in a searchable range near Echo. Step 2: Open the Alexa app on your device and tap Devices at the bottom.
Step 3: Tap Echo & Alexa followed by your device name.
Note: If you tap your device name, the device settings page is not displayed, tap the settings icon in the top right corner. Step 4: Tap on Bluetooth Devices and click on Pair a new device on the next screen.
Instead of steps 2-4, you can go to Settings from the Alexa app sidebar, followed by Device Settings. Here, tap on your Echo device and select Bluetooth devices. Tap Pair a new device and continue with these steps. Step 5: On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings. Now tap on Pair new device or turn on Bluetooth and then your phone or tablet will automatically search for a new ultrasound. The steps may vary by device. The basic idea is that you should enter pairing mode.
Step 6: Either you will receive a doll up over Echo (confirm it), otherwise the device will appear under Available devices. Tap the respective to pair. Note: Be patient as it may take a while for it to appear under Available devices.
If both are properly connected, your Echo will confirm the connection by saying ‘Connected to …’ followed by your device name.
Method 2: Using voice command
Step 1: Be within range of your ultrasound with you phone Step 2: Go to Bluetooth settings on your phone and enter pairing mode. Stay on the same screen. Step 3: Say the command “Alexa, Pair” to Echo. It starts to search for nearby Bluetooth devices. Note: To exit pairing mode, say “Alexa, Cancel.” Step 4: Tap the Echo under Available devices on your phoneIf all goes well, your Echo will announce if it is successfully connecting to that person phone
Use Echo as a Bluetooth speaker
Once successfully paired, use the command ‘Alexa, Connect my phone’to reconnect with you phone in the future. Then play everything on your device and the Echo will act as the Bluetooth speaker. Note: The Echo has no Aux-in. That means you can use your phone with the Echo using an AUX cable to play songs through the port. To disconnect your currently connected device from Echo, say ‘Alexa, Disconnect’ command. You can only stream audio from your phone or other devices. Echo cannot answer calls, message someone, or send notifications from your mobile device.
Problem connecting multiple devices
You must be careful when using multiple pairing devices. While Echo remembers multiple connected devices, it will connect to the most recently paired device if it is within range. Follow these steps to change the connected Bluetooth device: Step 1: Open the Alexa app and tap Devices at the bottom.
Step 2: Press Echo and Alexa, followed by tapping your Echo device.
Step 3: Tap Bluetooth devices under Device settings.
Step 4: Tap the small down arrow next to the currently connected device and select Disconnect.
Step 5: Once disconnected, tap the other previously paired device to connect to it.
Bluetooth connection does not work on echo
If for some reason you have your phone to the echo or echo does not play audio for the connected device, try these solutions.
1. Check for compatibility
Unless your devices are not compatible with each other, they will not be able to connect. If the Bluetooth part is missing from the Alexa app under your device, it means your Echo device doesn’t support Bluetooth. The Echo supports limited Bluetooth profiles. So make sure you phone or tablet has a compatible profile.
2. Disconnect other Bluetooth devices
If you’re trying to pair a new device with the Echo, turn off Bluetooth on all other paired devices to prevent Echo from reconnecting to it. Only then pair it with a new device.
3. Turn off Bluetooth on your Phone
Sometimes disabling and enabling Bluetooth on your device will also help connect. So give it a try.
4. Disconnect Echo
It’s like rebooting your Echo device. All you need to do is unplug it or turn it off for a few seconds. Hopefully plugging it back in will fix the problem.
5. Forget the device
Another way to fix the problem is to unpair one or all of the connected Bluetooth devices. You can do that from the phoneIt’s Bluetooth settings (open Bluetooth settings and forget about Echo) or through the Alexa app. To do this, repeat steps 1-4 above for pairing multiple devices. Open the Alexa app, go to Devices> Echo & Alexa> Your device> Bluetooth devices, tap Forget device instead of Disconnect. Finally, start your phone and Echo.
